What is a qualified driver?

Driver Qualifications

To drive with our team, applicants must meet clear safety and professionalism standards. These qualifications help protect you, our clients, and the communities we serve.

Minimum qualifications typically include:

  • Must be 21+ years

  • Valid, current driver’s license in good standing

  • Clean or acceptably limited motor vehicle record (MVR)

  • Minimum driving experience (for example, at least 1–2 years of regular driving)

  • Reliable, properly insured vehicle (if required for the role)

  • Driver must be named on the insurance

  • Ability to pass a background check and, when applicable, drug screening

  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Paper Documentation Requirements:

  • Application

  • Valid, current driver’s license in good standing

  • Social Security Card

  • Work Permit, Residency or Native Citizen

  • Vehicle Registration

  • Vehicle Insurance

  • Photos of the vehicle and tag

  • Current living address

  • Active email address

  • Bank routing number and account for direct deposit

  • Signed W9 form

  • Signed Contract

Required Onboarding Documentation

All drivers must complete and sign a full set of documentation to ensure compliance, safety, and operational clarity. This includes core FMCSA-mandated items as well as company-specific agreements.

Core Compliance Documents

  • Valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

  • Proof of vehicle insurance and registration (if applicable)

  • Background check authorization and results

  • Drug screening consent (where required)

  • W-9 form for tax purposes

Critical Releases and Acknowledgements
Every driver file must include signed releases and acknowledgments for:

  • Non-compete agreement (protecting client relationships and company operations)

  • Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) (safeguarding proprietary information, routes, and client data)

  • Equipment receipt and responsibility form (for scanners, vests, badges, or loaned tech)

  • Defensive driving commitment

  • Policy and procedure acknowledgment (covering conduct, safety, payment terms, and client standards)

  • Independent contractor agreement (outlining relationship, expectations, and separation terms)

  • Photo evidence and app usage consent

  • Dispute resolution and arbitration clause

These documents create a complete, compliant file for each driver, protecting both parties and enabling smooth operations. Submit all items promptly during onboarding to avoid delays in starting routes.

Professional expectations include:

  • Strong safety habits and defensive driving skills

  • Ability to use smartphone apps for navigation and delivery workflows

  • Good communication skills and professional customer service

  • Physical ability to lift and carry packages, get in and out of the vehicle frequently, and work in varying weather conditions

  • Consistent punctuality, reliability, and respect for company policies and regulations

Specific roles may have additional requirements, and all drivers must complete our training and onboarding before beginning routes.
