Driver Evaluations and Performance Standards

Drivers are evaluated using a combination of OEC performance key metrics and client-specific standards, ensuring alignment with both company expectations and contractual obligations.

Key factors include:

  • Consistent on-time arrivals and successful deliveries

  • Working at least 21 days per month

  • Low rates of misdeliveries or fake proof-of-delivery (POD)

  • No drama, disruptions, or policy violations

  • Full adherence to OEC policies, procedures, and client requirements

OEC's standards mirror client metrics and contracts while incorporating industry best practices regulated by

key agencies:

  • FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration): Oversees commercial vehicle safety, driver qualifications, hours of service, and vehicle inspections to reduce highway accidents in last-mile delivery.

  • DOT (Department of Transportation): Sets broader transportation rules, including licensing and hazardous materials handling relevant to package delivery.

  • OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration): Enforces workplace safety standards, such as proper lifting, vehicle loading, and hazard communication to protect drivers on the job.

  • IRS: Defines independent contractor status, tax reporting, and payment structures to ensure compliant business operations.

These regulations collectively promote safe, reliable last-mile delivery services nationwide, educating drivers on professional standards that protect everyone involved.
